About This Game The latest short, serious visual novel by Tomo Kataoka, the author of Narcissu 1st & 2nd, has arrived!OverviewThere is nothing in this world.Just endlessly falling rain. The population here is exactly one.Getting off the elevator one day, a mysterious world was waiting. No one else was around, only endless rainy sky and weathered flagstones. In this world, getting hungry and even death wasn't possible. It was a world where time seems to have stopped.Except one thing -- the rain continued to fall."This world has a population of just one. So get out."A girl named "Rin" told the protagonist. She declared that she was the lone mistress of this rainy world. For how many years, decades, even centuries... Has she lived all alone in this world? Will the day come when the rain stops falling? Narcissu Bonus Episode Included in the game is a copy of Narcissu 1st, as well as a brand new VERY short bonus episode. It's very short, but hopefully is interesting for narcissu fans.Changing language regionThe game is playable in either English or Japanese, but due to technical constraints, there is no way to change the language within the game. However, it's possible to change the region for the game, as documented here:https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8487-WSCN-4121NOTETo play the game in Japanese, your Windows installation needs to be set to handle non-unicode text as Japanese:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-system-locale#1TC=windows-7If you experience issues, please email support(at)sekaiproject.com 6d5b4406ea Title: Ame no Marginal -Rain Marginal-Genre: IndieDeveloper:stage-nanaPublisher:Sekai ProjectRelease Date: 30 Dec, 2014 Ame No Marginal -Rain Marginal- Xbox Download Code Didn't realize that the creator had more content out there other than Narcissu 1 & 2! Does anyone know if it's worth looking into the backstory of the Mistress in the game Ame no Marginal or was that just a sort of fun thing the author did? I enjoyed the concept of the game, the story was simple and nice. It gave me lots of chances to pause to think on the story but there are still a lot of questoins I have left. Though sometimes it's nice to have a story not completely wrapped up and put away.. A fairly short (~4-6 hours) and nice VN that revolves around the story of a young girl named Rin. The story actually has 2 paths that you must read through in parallel. The first path is from Rin's perspective and covers her life up to the present, but the second path takes place in the present and follows a generic protagonist's view through to the end.The story is simple, but interesting. A girl is trapped alone in a world of endless rain. How did she get there? Why can't she leave? Who is she? These questions are brought up at the very start and by the end they will all have been answered very nicely tying up the whole game into a nice little package. There is only a small cast of characters that show up throughout the story, and of the characters that do show up only Rin's character has any real development or depth to it. The present time protagonist, while has some depth explored at the start, only exists to further explore Rin without any sort of real development or depth of his own. The lack of depth in others isn't a bad thing necessarily, but the story leaves a lot of questions regarding characters unanswered, and because of the lack of any detail it is difficult to really care about any character other than Rin.The one aspect this VN nails though is atmosphere: an isolated world, a population of 1, an endless rainfall, and eternal life. This VN exudes melancholy from the great art, the well done voice acting, to the soundtrack that is spot on with every scene. If there is one thing this VN got perfectly it is the atmosphere. The translation has a few minor grammatical errors here and there, but overall it was definitely a quality job.Final score: 7.75/10. Beautiful visual novel I love Tomo Kataoka's stories and Ame no Marginal is another heart felt novel that gets you thinking of differnt perceptives how we see our emotions. Its a short novel but its worth it I do wish there was more story about the guy who comes to the raining world.. I have no regrets...... 5/10I'm hesitant to recommend this game for a number of reasons. It's not worth its full price and is hardly worth getting at half price. I did enjoy the game, but I believe I got this for less than half price. Worth a consideration for 60% off or more.Negatives:-Aside from the first 20% of the game, it feels like you are watching a sloppy brainstorm type proposal for a visual novel. It doesn't have much direction, and the direction it has is imprecisely dragged out, making a lot of the story repetitive and monotonous. You could say the limbo in the novel has realistic effects. In Sekai's defense, it is probably extremely difficult to get excitement out of a limbo concept-The same 5 or so backdrops are used for about half the novel-The music is not an enhancement to the novel at all. It sounds like filler, honestly. Other visual novels have mastered this while this one hugely underutilizes music-From the beginning the story is nonsensically depressing. Stories can be good and sad, but at times it honestly felt like I was reading about mysticized teen angst, and the suffering was mostly self-pityPositives:-It is cute-The ending isn't extravagant but satisfying considering the quality of the story-If you don't need a story with progression and would be satisfied with just keeping company with mediocre characters for a few hours, it is entertaining-There are a handful of endearing moments between charactersI enjoyed it considering my discount and the fact that I had nothing else to do for like 4 hours. (lot of idle time recorded). fantastic vn, highly reccomended. I liked the author’s previous work, so I picked this up immediately on release without even looking at what it was about. What I liked most about Ame no Marginal was the mood, created by the music and visuals. Unfortunately the characters were a bit flat, and it didn’t end up packing the punch I was hoping. That’s really my only problem here, that it’s lacking in depth. The cast is tiny, and yet there’s not much work put into making them fully realized. It makes it feel like a fairy tale. It gets the mood right, but smooths out details. It becomes a problem because one of the main characters is talked about as if he’s a person, but you never get much of a sense for him. He’s generic male protagonist, and he doesn’t belong here. This story called for more than that. That said, Ame no Marginal is still nice. Parts of the story were excellent. It’s mostly in the second half it started to strain credibility. And when the ending hit I wasn’t feeling it at all. But still, the music was great and the early parts of the story were gripping, so overall I’d say this is a success. I imagine many will be more forgiving than I am, and I’m happy for you. Finally, it’s probably overpriced for what took me ~90 minutes to finish. But sales will take care of that if it’s a problem for you.. This fine work from the same creative mind behind Narcissu tells us something about the rain in an ethereal, reflective way.In a world where only rainy weather prevails, one mysterious girl, who is the only resident of that world, meets a man who had almost given up on life. Together, they talk about little nothings, until those talks evolve into reflections about living life with regrets and without them. This is the crux of the story hidden behind the gazillions of raindrops that fell over the course of the entire story. The translation could use a little more polishing, and an English dub would be great. Here's my little cast list, including the originally-silent protagonist:Protagonist = Max MittelmanRin = Christine Marie CabanosLady = Lauren LandaWhile at the end, I didn't cry as much as I did when reading Narcissu 1st and 2nd, I felt a sense of accomplishment and victory, now that Rin has found her way that she lost a long time ago.. I like this game, but if you have no experience with this writer or visual novel in general, I won't recommend it. Go get Narcissu instead (It is free on steam by the same writer), and come back if you end up liking his style of writing. To put it simple, it was a short and sad story about a girl becoming the lord of a never-end raining world. There wasn't too much happening with the plot. Rather, it was the mood that kept me reading. The male character was a depressed salary man, but that didn't affect the story. (The writer's other work, Sumire developed by nekoneko soft, incorporates the setting of a depressed salary man way better.) After finishing the game, you will unlock the bonus content, which is the full game of Narcissu 1 including an extra little chapter not in the free steam version.I like the game music. It fits the sad and depressing story. The artwork is hm...I doubt if anyone can fap on it, but you never know. I bought the game when it was super cheap during summer sale, and it worths the money.. What will you do if you are trapped in a empty world where time have stopped. When the rain never stop falling, when sickness, hunger and death never existed, a world where only one person can live in? Ame no Marginal is a short kinetic novel made by Tomo Kataoka, the creator of Narcissu 1st and 2nd. It portays the lives of 2 particular characters.A troubled young man who tried to take his life by attempting suicide on the 7th floor (The rooftop) of the building that he is working in. Only to find himself going back to work the next day. Curiousity soon led him to the 8th floor of the building. The floor which never existed until that day. Upon entering the 8th floor, he finds himself in a place that he had never been to before, a world with an everlasting rain. He was soon greeted by a young girl who have been living alone, in the cold and empty world where the rain never stop.Ame no Marginal's storyline is well written and very engaging, the depressing yet touching storyline, along with the appropiate use of soundtracks is able to portray the right mood. The voice acting is also excellent and the characters are also well drawn, Overall, Ame no Marginal is a very good Visual Novel. If you have read Narissu and enjoyed it, then, I'll definitely recommend you to try out Ame no Marginal.10/10 will spend a millennium walking through the river in the rain.
